“The question beneath my work is straightforward: how do we live with what has been torn within us, between us, and around us without looking away?”

Rupture is not an abstract condition but a lived one, registered in bodies, relationships, landscapes, and images. This text unfolds as an inquiry into how damage is acknowledged, carried, and worked through over time, without denial or premature resolution. Moving between artistic practice, psychological listening, and material process, it traces an ongoing engagement with mourning, witnessing, and repair, not as a return to an original state, but as an ethical labor that remains partial and unfinished.

This inquiry lives at the center of Donna Bassin’s work. A Brooklyn-born, New Jersey-based photo artist, filmmaker, writer, and clinical psychologist, she works at the intersection of art making and trauma care, where attention itself becomes a form of devotion.

In the grand tapestry of contemporary art, Tara Sellios stands out as a weaver of the morose and the magnificent, challenging the viewer to peer through the lens of mortality and emerge with a sense of awe. Her multidisciplinary approach defies simple categorization, merging photography with sculpture and installation, to craft a body of work that is as contemplative as it is confrontational.

“I strive to create images that elegantly articulate the totality of existence, focusing heavily on life’s underlying instinctive, carnal nature in the face of fragility and impermanence. The concept of morality in relation to mortality has possessed a significant presence within the history of art. Manifesting melancholic, seemingly damning themes with beauty and precision results in an image that is seductive, forcing the viewer to look, despite its apparent grotesque and morbid nature. Through these images, I aspire to make apparent the restlessness of a life that is knowingly so temporary and vulnerable.”

Who am I in the water? In silence, in the water, I embark on a journey towards a hidden part of myself that helps me to understand my life a little better each time. With her keen photographic eye, Paola Ferrarotti not only documents life but also creates art through her photographs. Having been born and raised in Rosario, Argentina, Paola was drawn to the world from a young age and had a deep desire to explore and experience different countries, immersing herself in the beauty and diversity of it all.Through her photography, she aims to capture this profound reality and convey her emotions, feelings, and perceptions of the environment and her experiences within it.

India’s rapidly evolving and modernizing society is taking the country into a new era of growth and progress, and in its stride, leaving behind many of its traditional practices and cultures which are at risk of being lost forever.

Photographer Jayesh Kumar Sharma has spent the past six years capturing the diminishing practices of Kushti, a traditional style of wrestling, for posterity. Through his work, Jayesh hopes to document the lives and culture of those practicing Kushti before it is lost forever. “We are losing our age-old way of life with which we were so deeply connected to the earth, to ecology, to our very own soil. To me, this has been a tremendous loss and I feel we are losing these things forever. This primeval connection once gone, will alienate us forever,” said Jayesh. Jayesh’s work is a powerful reminder of India’s rich culture and tradition that is at risk of slipping away. He believes that his work can help preserve these practices and cultures for future generations. “If we don’t document these cultures and stories now, they will be lost forever.”

Finding his passion for street photography in 2017, Samuel started to take photographs of what surrounded him, curious about the world around him. The streets became his classroom, and they led him to places he would have never found or ‘seen’. Discovering hidden gems, curious moments and recognising the beauty of his home city, letting the impressions passively influence the choice. Samuel wants to communicate his story this way through his photography, generating a curiosity gap for the viewer, capturing their attention for longer than a second, as a contrast to the fast paced world of social media.

Predominantly photographing around central London, Darren Sacks finds the awesomeness in the everyday and the often overlooked scenes and objects. Using layers and reflection, shadows and light in his photography, Darren wants to show the frequently photographed places in a slightly different way.

“I enjoy using light and shadows, layers and vibrant colour to create my images and will usually spend time building and layering a scene once I find a composition that I think could be interesting. When I am taking photos I don’t usually include a subjects’ face as the primary focus of a shot. Instead I will look to weave a human element into an abstract scene be that through silhouettes, shadows or some details.”
